The only exception is Aquatic Milkweed seeds that are too large and fragile and must be mailed in a bubble mailer.

Seed Availability

Sept 1, 2025 Seeds are just starting to be collected. Meanwhile if there is a specific seed you are waiting for, you can sign up to receive an email notification as soon as they are listed as “In Stock”. Just go to the item listing and choose a seed count. You will then be prompted to enter an email address for notification. This is called a Subscription but you are not added to any mailing list and your info is never collected or sold. Once the item is back in stock and you receive an email notification, your email address is deleted.

Unavailable this Year

A few regular milkweed species will not be available or only in small quantities this year due to crop failure from blights, fungi, bugs and weather along with hybridization. Sigh. This list currently includes:

  • Texas Milkweed – A. texana (hybridization with Arizona Milkweed) Patch has been removed and a new patch started 2026.
  • Clasping Milkweed – A. amplexicaulis (Weather)
  • Redring – A. variegata (Blight/fungus and low pollination)
  • Oval Leaf – A. ovalifolia (Blight/fungus)
  • Broadleaf – A. latifolia (Blight/fungus/bugs)
  • Zizotes Milkweed – A. oenotheroides (Bight/Fungus) A few pods did ripen but only enough for 10 ct. packets. 2024 leftover seeds will be available in 300 ct. for 50% off.

Discontinuing

Also a few species that just aren’t pulling their weight will be discontinued. Any patch that hasn’t produced seeds in 4 or 5 years or the seeds that have made it to market just aren’t desired will be discontinued. The current list includes:

  • Horsetail Milkweed – A. subverticillata (low interest)
  • Wooly Pod – A. eriocarpa (blight/fungus/no seeds)
  • Swan Milkweed – Gomphocarpus fruticosus (low interest)
  • Hall’s Milkweed – A. hallii (blight/fungus/no seeds)

On the Chopping block

  • Broadleaf – A. latifolia
  • Oval Leaf – A ovalifolia
