Orange Mexican Sunflower Seeds

Description

Tithonia rotundifolia is a Mexican native. An annual in any region with freezing winters. It’s an amazing butterfly attractant and nectar plant. Brilliant orange flowers continue forming until a heavy freeze. Plants grow very quickly and fill a large space. Easily grow 4′- 7′ tall (Also available in Dwarf) with many branches.  Can be trimmed to stay smaller.  Drought tolerant once established due to a long tap root.   A very low maintenance plant.  Dried pods can be collected to have seeds for next year.

   Sowing: When ground warms into the upper 60s and 70s, loosen soil and sow seeds, covering with 1/4″ of soil.  Keep watered until germination is underway.  Usually within 7-10 days.  Can also be started indoors 6 weeks before planting outdoors.
