Description
Winter Aconite is the true harbinger of spring. Comes out before the robins and crocuses. Growing 4″ tall and displays bright yellow crocus like blooms. The tubers can be divided and planted in other areas preferably in the Fall. But the seeds can be scattered anywhere you’d like a burst of color in late winter. The emerging plants push up through the snow mid March during a normal winter, but in the warmer winters they are already up mid February. Grown from seed the plants won’t bloom until the 2nd year. You will find small green rosette leaves when the seed has germinated the first year. Patience is rewarded the second year when you see the first bloom. Grows in full sun and shade.
